Save the dates… Friends of Glen Providence Park is delighted to\u00a0announce\u00a0Summer Afternoon Concerts in the Park!<\/strong> Inspired by our Classical & Jazz Concert with Philadelphia Brass<\/a> last September, we are reviving this decades-long tradition of free community concerts in the park<\/a>. We will present three concerts in the spirit of the park’s early concerts: Classical, Acoustic American & Three-part Harmonies, and Big Band!<\/p>\n

Summer Afternoon Concerts in the Park!<\/em><\/h3>\n

Saturdays: June 22, July 27 & September 14<\/strong>
\nwith Sunday rain dates<\/i>
\n4:30-6:00pm
\nFree!<\/p>\n

Enjoy a late afternoon performance at the concert stage, in the shade of the fabulous White Oak tree. Then walk 2 blocks into town for dinner and shopping on State Street!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

This Concert Series is made possible with the generous sponsorship of the Media Recreation Board<\/a><\/strong>– they also made our first concert last year possible! Additional funding is provided by Media Rotary Foundation<\/a><\/strong>, which is apt- because Glen Providence Park\u2019s first concert in 1937 was presented under the leadership of Stanley T. Hibberd, a founding member of Media Rotary! Each concert is also sponsored by a restaurant within blocks of the park’s main entrance.<\/p>\n

We are grateful to\u00a0Delaware County Parks & Recreation<\/a><\/strong>, without whose support these concerts would not be possible. \u00a0And thank you to our volunteers and Brownie Troop #5248<\/strong>– they helped clear the concert stage at our May 4 Cleanup<\/a>, and planted flowers!<\/p>\n

General Logistics:<\/h3>\n

– Free!<\/p>\n

– Performances are at the\u00a0Glen Providence Park Stage, by the main entrance on State Street in Media<\/p>\n

– Rain dates are the Sunday after each scheduled performance<\/p>\n

– Bring your blanket or chair, and perhaps bug spray!<\/p>\n

– There is a parking lot at the State Street entrance, and parking along State Street and West Street- within 2 blocks of the park entrance. Update:\u00a0We have permission again this year from\u00a0Penn Medicine<\/a>, just next to the park entrance, to use their parking lot! \u00a0Thank you, Penn Medicine!<\/p>\n

– We encourage you to walk or take public transportation: \u00a0the main entrance is just 2 blocks from the end of the Media trolley line, \u00a0or less than a .6 mile walk from the Media train station.<\/p>\n
