From Royal Albert Hall in London to the Bolivian Andes, and now Glen Providence Park in Media\u2026 Friends of Glen Providence Park is delighted to present the prestigious Philadephia Brass<\/a>\u00a0for a (free!) classical and jazz concert in the park!\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0This brass quintet’s\u00a0accomplished musicians<\/a>\u00a0perform for orchestras including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, the Montreal Symphony, and\u00a0New York\u2019s Metropolitan Opera!<\/p>\n Saturday, September 8 The Philadelphia Brass is composed of some this country\u2019s leading brass professionals.<\/strong> \u00a0This well-traveled quintet will perform chamber music and jazz, evoking the classical concerts in Glen Providence Park during the 1930’s and 1940’s<\/a>! \u00a0Relax on the lawn by the stage and enjoy the sounds of\u00a0Bach, Duke Ellington, and more-<\/strong>\u00a0 you can watch a performance \u00a0on the Philadelphia Brass website<\/a>.<\/p>\n After the concert, head into Media for dinner, shopping, and the arts at M.A.C.’s 2nd Saturday Arts Stroll<\/a><\/strong>, just 2 blocks away on State Street!<\/p>\n We are so glad to return the Glen Providence Park Stage to use, as\u00a0our first volunteer project last September was to clear the stage of vegetation and debris<\/a>.\u00a0 Help us spread the word about our concert- share this on Facebook<\/a> and tell your friends!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n – The Media Recreation Board<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0does so much for Media-\u00a0including presenting family dances, movies in Barrall Field, tennis lessons, yoga classes, the annual July 4th celebration; they organized the Media 5 Mile Race for several years, and now they’re running the Great Media Garage Sale Days!<\/p>\n – Blueberry Bog Vintage & Handmade<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>offers\u00a0Art & Salvage, Vintage, Collectibles, Upcycled &\u00a0Re-purposed Home Decor, Antiques & Much More!<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0What an appropriate match for Glen Providence Park, with their vintage and eco-friendly wares… and it is located just 2 blocks from the entrance to the park!<\/p>\n We are also incredibly grateful to Delaware County Parks & Recreation<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0for making this concert possible, restoring electricity and lighting to the stage, and providing bathrooms for the event.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n – Free!<\/p>\n – Bring your blanket or chair, and perhaps bug spray!<\/p>\n – There is a parking lot at the State Street entrance, and parking along State Street and West Street- within 2 blocks of the park entrance. \u00a0Update:\u00a0<\/strong>We have permission from Penn Medicine<\/a>, just next to the sledding hill, to use their parking lot! \u00a0Thank you, Penn Medicine!<\/p>\n – We encourage you to walk or take public transportation: \u00a0the main entrance is just 2 blocks from the end of the Media trolley line, \u00a0or less than a .6 mile walk from the Media train station!<\/p>\n – For directions, use this link on google maps<\/a>.<\/p>\n – <\/em>To add this event to your favorite calendar program (iCal, Outlook, Google, etc.), view the\u00a0event listing on our calendar<\/a>.<\/p>\nAfternoon Concert in the Park<\/em><\/h3>\n
