Mountain Laurel Trail

Glen Providence is a 33 acre park nestled in a steep valley between Media Borough and Upper Providence, Pennsylvania. A walk through this lovely historical park provides a free family outing within walking distance of thousands of local residents.

When George and Eleanor Butler donated the land for Glen Providence Park in 1935, it became Delaware County’s first park. The Butlers wished that the park be maintained in its natural state, and they dedicated the park as a Bird Sanctuary and Arboretum.

Recreation opportunities include dog walking, geocaching, Pokémon GO, fishing, picnicking, sledding, photography, bird watching, and of course hiking! You can check out our 2019 Schedule of Events and join us on one of our monthly nature walks, summer concerts, volunteer days, or our Friday morning Conservation Crew.

Glen Providence Park has about 2 miles of trails with distinct personalities and plant species, with views of the wetlands fed from natural springs that line Broomall’s Run. Most trails lead to the serene pond at the park’s center. Make sure you explore it all – use our Annotated Trail Map! You can also download the 1941 Nature Guide which includes a walking tour of the park.

Explore the Menu above and the Categories and Tags on the right to learn much more about the park – you can also search our over 200 articles. And like us on Facebook to follow our regular photos and updates about Glen Providence Park!

As good stewards of the park, do not add or remove animals or vegetation from the park without consulting Delaware County Parks and Recreation. The course of streams and the pond should not be altered as disturbances can increase the already serious problem of erosion. If you’d like to help improve the health of the park, please contact us about volunteering or check our calendar.

If you find an animal in the park that is injured and needs emergency assistance, call Delaware County Park Police at 610-891-5000.

Delaware County Parks & Recreation oversees and maintains this County-owned park, as part of its 621 total acres of parkland (and growing!). Friends of Glen Providence Park works with Parks & Recreation to prioritize and coordinate volunteer projects to further preserve and enhance the park – and to provide free events for the community.

To find Glen Providence Park on google maps, click here, then park at (or walk to!) one of these three entrances:

– Main entrance: 500 Block of West State Street, Media
